This morning we hiked up the Palo Alto hill through the MacIntrye coffee farms.
The MacIntyre coffee is sold under the Kotowa brand. Apparently, Kotowa means mountains and they use the slogan on the bag 'A coffee from my mountain to your cup'.
In this case, the mountain climb was about 3-4 KM. We enjoyed the coffee in the cup at the top of the same mountain that the coffee was actually grown on. We enjoyed the nature: The orchids and green earthy smells left after the rains last night.
At the top we stopped at the Canopy Tree Trek restaurant for an Italian Capuccino. It is a very good Italian Cappuccino one of my favorites in Boquete. One of my fellow hikers is Italian, she really knows her coffee, and she thinks so too. We must be on to something.
The roast used for this is the Traditional Roast gourmet Kotowa Coffee grown by the MacIntyre family on the slopes of the Palo Alto, this same mountain. The barister in the restaurant is excellent. There are three other places in Boquete you could drink the same but she makes it the best.
We think it has much to do with the machine she uses. She uses an old fashioned Pasquini cappuccino maker - the Kotowa coffee shops in town use a larger more modern machine. Or, maybe it is her skill! So many things go into making a good cup of coffee.
