One of the three lots on the farm has numerous orange trees. They are mostly older trees some as old as 30 years. They are a type of grafted orange, I think a naval, at least they all have navals. I am not quite sure how many trees we have exactly, maybe 200 or so.
They started producing about 3 weeks ago. The first oranges of the season are always small and a little sour at first. Now they are coming thick and fast, we have thousands of them big and juicy and sweeter every week that goes by. I like them best juiced on their own or in a rum cocktail. They make a great dessert with coconut or a refreshing sorbet. Well, plenty of time to try 1000 ways to use an orange, we will have them from now until January non-stop.
